Last week, we had the honor of being introduced and promoted on the Night Sky Tourist podcast by Vicky Derksen. As you might guess, the Night Sky Tourist podcast is a fascinating astronomy-focused show that explores night sky destinations, cultural star stories, and the importance of protecting dark skies. It also dives into other captivating topics, such as mental health and stargazing, as featured in Episode 107, which highlights an organization studying the connection between stargazing and mental well-being.
Sky View Tents was featured in the final five minutes of Episode 111, where Ted Blank discusses shooting stars and meteor showers—a topic we are deeply passionate about. It was the perfect episode for us to be featured on! As Vicky began her eloquent introduction to our company, both Zari and I couldn’t hold back tears. It was incredibly emotional to hear someone else talk about Sky View Tents with such warmth and enthusiasm.
Up until now, it’s always been just us speaking about our brand. Hearing Vicky’s kind words was both validating and exhilarating—a wave of emotions that confirmed we’re creating something truly special that others appreciate just as much as we do.
I’ll never forget the moment I turned to Zari on the couch and said, “How about Sky View Tents as a name?” At the time, we had just started designing our stargazing tent. The thrill we felt when we discovered the name was still available was unforgettable. Back then, we were experimenting with plastic tent materials before discovering the durable, crystal-clear mesh we now proudly use.
