This one-of-a-kind internal rainfly slides on 3 tracks inside of the tent and overlaps with all openings in a way that completely waterproofs the tent when engaged. It opens and closes from inside of the tent by sliding it along a simple track system. You can confidently fall asleep with the rainfly open, knowing you can quickly close it at any time without even having to get out of your sleeping bag. Doubling as a sun blocker and privacy screen, you’ll be able to sleep in if you desire, or get up before dawn and dress for a fun day on the trails.(2) Meet the Sky View XL #astronomy #astrophotography #camping #stargazing - YouTube
Sky View Tents utilize a polyester bug mesh called UltraVue®2 made by Phifer in the USA. Ultravue2 is an incredibly clear, durable, and high-quality bug mesh with Water Shed Technology™ coating that preserves your viewing clarity by shedding rain water and resisting dirt and grime. The mesh is completely invisible at night without lights on inside of the tent. You can slap the mesh from inside the tent and the view you’re getting of the night sky is not impacted at all, meaning that wind will not impact your view as well. It’s a wild experience to touch something but not see it. During testing we found this mesh to be clearer than any other material, even clear plastics. Okay, back to the original question. The mesh openings are just smaller than 1/18” and will block all mosquitos and bugs found in the majority of places this tent will be used. A true no-see-um mesh, however, is generally 20x20 mesh, ours is 18x18. Therefore, this tent is not the best for areas where no-see-ums proliferate. We are committed to testing new products to find the more protective, see-through mesh, but so far nothing comes close to the clarity of the UltraVue®2 made by Phifer – and it’s made in the USA.
We are committed to sourcing the materials that go into making our stargazing tents as responsibly and sustainably as possible. Whenever possible we source from American manufacturers featuring the best quality materials on the market, then we carefully sew each tent in our Buena Vista, Colorado production facility. Our goal is to produce hand-crafted quality tents that are rugged and durable and backed by the best customer service on the planet.
