I am not sure what was better, the tent or the customer service. Well, okay, it’s the tent but the customer service has been outstanding. The tent can be set up quickly and easily. You can look through the tent mesh at the night sky without really noticing the mesh. The 180 degree view is really fun and unique to any backpacking or car camping tent that I have used in the past. I have the second generation XL, which I found to be surprisingly roomy for an A frame style tent. I put two 25 inch wide sleeping pads inside and still had room on either side of the pads. Two adults can definitely fit and have room on either side of them, though the fit might be a little close for sharing the tent with a buddy as opposed to a romantic partner. Should it start to rain during the night, putting the interior rain fly in place literally just takes seconds to keep the rain from coming in, and then maybe another minute or so to attach the rainfly connections to hold it in place (be sure to watch Joe’s video on how to set up the rain fly should the need arise). I field tested the tent when my area had four consecutive days of thunderstorms and wind gusts. I only had one minor leak problem, but Joe’s excellent and very prompt customer service email exchanges helped me make an adjustment to the tent which resolved the problem. If you are on the fence about whether an interior rainfly will work, watch Joe’s You Tube video of him spending several very rainy nights in Oregon when he was testing the tent. Bottom line, I always want a clear view of the sky on camping trips but often have had to put a rainfly over my tent blocking the sky view because the weather forecast indicated it might rain during the night. With this tent, now I can go to bed looking at the sky and neighboring tree tops, but if it does start to rain I can put the rainfly in place in a flash.
