June is National Camping Month! That means there’s no better time to load up the car, grab your gear, and get to the great outdoors. Whether you’re chasing trout in the Rockies, mountain biking singletrack in Moab, or just soaking up some peace around the campfire, camping is a reset button for the soul.
For our crew here at Sky View Tents—tent makers who ski, raft, and live for high-country sunsets—camping isn’t just a pastime, it’s part of our DNA.
Why Camping Is Good for You (and the Whole Family)
Camping does something no screen or streaming service can do: it brings you back to yourself. Studies show that spending time in nature lowers cortisol levels, improves sleep, and boosts mental clarity. And when you unplug with your kids or your partner, you reconnect in ways that can get lost in the noise of daily life. Plus, camping builds grit and independence—especially for kids. There’s something empowering about helping pitch a Sky View A-Frame tent or cook over an open flame.
Chase the Stars in Dark Sky Parks + the Power of Awe
If you really want to take your camping game to the next level, plan a trip to a dark sky park certified by DarkSky International. These protected areas have some of the most pristine night skies in the world. Lying under a great dome of stars with your kids, pointing out constellations and watching meteors streak across the sky is about the closest thing to pure magic you’ll find. We believe so strongly in preserving those experiences that a portion of every Sky View Tent sale goes to support DarkSky Colorado. Want to help out too? Visit DarkSky Colorado’s fundraising site and give whatever you feel like you can afford.
Keep Sustainability In Mind
Camping isn’t just about what you take from nature. It’s also about what you give back.
Here are a few ways to keep your impact low:
-
Pack it in, pack it out. Everything.
-
Use biodegradable soap and camp at least 200 feet away from water sources.
-
Light the way with solar lanterns instead of gas.
-
Skip the single-use plastics—bring your own mugs, bowls, and utensils.
-
Buy local firewood to prevent the spread of invasive pests.
-
Don’t feed wildlife or leave food scraps behind.
-
Don’t blast the music – there are other campers and animals who might not appreciate the nose.
We get to share nature, so let’s keep it clean for other campers.
Leave It Better Than You Found It
Want to pay it forward? Leave your campsite cleaner than when you arrived. Bring a small trash bag and scoop up micro-trash like bottle caps, food wrappers, and foil. Dismantle unused fire rings, scatter leftover firewood, and fluff up the grass where your tent was. It takes five minutes—and it makes a huge difference for the next camper.
Our National Parks Need Us More Than Ever
Our National Parks aren’t just weekend destinations—they’re national treasures. But right now, they’re under threat. According to the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA), the parks face over $22 billion in repair backlogs, and staffing cuts are stretching rangers and resources thin. The parks are literally being dismantled before our eyes.
We can’t let that happen. Take five minutes to call or email your elected leaders. Use this link to find your representative: https://www.house.gov/representatives. Tell them to fully fund the National Park Service and protect the places that make America wild and beautiful.
Reconnect to What Matters
Camping reminds us what really counts: slowing down, sharing stories around the fire, waking up with the sun. When the phones are off and the stars are on, something shifts. We breathe deeper. We laugh more. We remember what it means to live simply and with purpose.
Camp With Us Under the Stars
Sky View Tents were built for these kinds of nights. Our stargazing tents feature the clearest mesh roof panels on the market, so you can drift off under the stars. And our patent-pending rainfly system lets you deploy weather protection without leaving the warmth of your sleeping bag. No scrambling, no stress.
This National Camping Month, go outside. Look up. Leave it better. Just remember to look up at night!
